Position Overview:

The Senior Claim Specialist ("SCS") will investigate, evaluate, and manage to resolution assigned Ocean Marine claims of larger monetary exposure and/or complexity. This includes interfacing with insureds, insurers, brokers, underwriters, attorneys, physicians, third party claims administrators, marine surveyors, and other vendors. This position will report to Vice President, Ocean Marine Claims

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for investigating assigned Ocean Marine claims from open to final resolution adhering to Ascot claims processes and procedures with respect to investigating, analyzing coverage, determining quota shares, Litigation Management, issuing payments, reporting, reserving, and auditing for assigned caseload.
  • Responsible for contacting all parties involved in the claim, gathering, and securing all necessary information to effectively evaluate the claim and provide recommended action plans to manage assigned claims claim.
  • Provides excellent communication with policyholders, underwriters, brokers, injured workers or third parties, medical providers, following line insurers and attorneys during the course of the claim.
  • Ensures assigned claims are properly documented, reserved, and audited regularly
  • Make recommendations to Vice President, Ocean Marine Claims as needed with respect to reserves and excess authority.
  • Review and evaluate claims related expenses for reasonableness and necessity.
  • Responsible for reviewing claims and related contracts to identify risk transfer opportunities
  • Responsible for evaluating claims and identifying and acting upon claims resolution opportunities within an assigned level of authority.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of Ocean Marine claim handling experience
  • Ability to secure Adjuster Licensing as required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Medical and Legal Terminology
  • Knowledge of Litigation Processes
  • Knowledge of Contractual Indemnification and Risk Transfer Language
  • Skilled at problem solving
  • Ability to make effective decisions and escalating when needed.
  • Experience with MS Office and any claim handling systems
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to providing top quality service to all internal and external business partners.

Compensation

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.

The annualized base pay range for this role is: New York - $90,000 - $105,000.
