CSUDH is seeking applications from candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the University's mission, vision, and core values.The Masters of Science degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) and the O&P Assistant program provides educational opportunities for students to evaluate and create treatment interventions for patients who require orthopedic braces and artificial limbs. Formal instruction in orthotics and prosthetics theory and application, research design, and allied health related courses enable students to learn how to design appropriate orthotic or prosthetic treatment plans; to fit and fabricate devices, to implement the treatment plan, and to provide follow-up care. Evidence from research and clinically relevant outcomes measures are integrated with findings from visual examination, oral history, palpation, motion and strength testing, and gait observation to develop the optimum treatment plan. The Orthotics and Prosthetics Department seeks to provide the highest quality education possible within the scope of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs’ (CAAHEP) Standards and Guidelines for an Accredited Educational Program for the Orthotist and Prosthetist. 2017.The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.ResponsibilitiesManaging instructional material and course content for courses assigned.Delivering course contentManaging and posting evaluations and assessments for the courseAttending O&P faculty meetingsUtilizing CSUDH correspondence with students and facultyBeing a positive influence on the students, the program, and the UniversityAssisting in program activities, evaluations, reports, and meetings.QualificationsRequired QualificationsA Bachelor’s or terminal degree and/or certification in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.Preferred QualificationsA Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).Employment RequirementSatisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
