Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
The Infection Preventionist II is responsible for assisting the Director of Infection Prevention & Control in all activities related to the prevention and control of nosocomial infections. Works collaboratively with other Infection Preventionists to perform surveillance activities, report communicable diseases to local and federal health authorities, and investigate exposures or outbreaks. Educates staff, patients, and families on infection prevention policies and best practices. Works collaboratively with clinicians to advise on all matters relating to Infection Prevention and Control. Provides support for Infection Prevention quality improvement and safety projects and initiatives and supports the hospital’s benchmarking efforts. Performs day-to-day Infection Prevention activities in accordance with hospital policy and procedures, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
General Infection Prevention Competency, HAI prevention, and IPC Surveillance/Reporting. Meeting Facilitation and Public Speaking/Presentation to Groups. Clinical background (e.g. RN), Infection prevention-related regulatory requirements, and Project Management/Change Management experience highly preferred. Lean and/or Six Sigma Methodology experience preffered. Experience working with physicians and other health care professionals preferred. Pediatric/Neonatal Hospital experience preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in health care or related field. Master’s Preferred. Certification in Infection Control through CBIC is required (Please note that you will be required to get certified within 2 years of employment if not currently certified)
