We collaborate to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems within the public health domains of environmental health, infectious disease, chronic disease, and emergency preparedness/response. Our support drives the adoption of emerging best practices and technologies to increase the usefulness and value of public health data. Our team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques in the field to enhance emergency response efforts all around the world.Job SummaryThe Public Health Data Integrator works directly with public health professionals, data analysts, project coordinators, and developers. The Integrator supports public health analyses by identifying and implementing the best techniques and solutions to access, transform, and access data. They collaborate with developers and data team to enable customization of capability features and functionality to meet requirements. They access public health databases, data structures, and data flows to recommend and perform the import, structuring, and encoding of public health data.ResponsibilitiesIdentifies, coordinates, harvests, and exposes data sources across multiple domains and classification levels for ingestion.Gathers input and requirements for methodology development, tool modification, and tailored mission support.Assists, instructs, and educates non-technical personnel on data integration processes.Develops and implements advanced data management systems design, or redesign, to utilize new technologies.Develops, codes, tests, and maintains database programs.Maintains data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy.Stays informed of the ways the organization uses its data and recommends emerging techniques and technologies to enhance data use.Required ExperienceMust have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal governmentAt least four years’ experience in data related rolesExperience with public health dataExperience with Microsoft SQL ServerKnowledge of public health data and related privacy requirements (HIPAA, PII, etc.)Preferred ExperienceRecent experience with HHS (FDA, CDC, etc.) environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processesCompleted trainings or certifications in data science, public health, or computer science disciplinesEducation and TrainingDegree(s) in Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, or related field
