Senior Credit Officer

Participates in the loan management process by providing credit and loan underwriting expertise to the Bank’s C&I and CRE teams. Analyzes prospective loan transactions and credit worthiness of borrowers. Validates the credit analysis prepared by the Underwriting Analysts and provide opinions and recommendations regarding the proposed credit and potential risks. Ensure all due diligence and background evaluation is complete and thorough before credit approval is granted.

Ensures sound practices in the credit approval process across the organization.Conducts required analysis of various credit risk elements for new and existing transactions.Manages research and analysis of client’s financial performance, continuous monitoring of events and strength of credit portfolio.Closely monitors relevant market indices as well as industry developments.Participates in the preparation of monthly/quarterly reviews of borrowers, sectors and products to track compliance and identify and raise any potential credit concerns.Participates in deal and credit approval process, ensures appropriate communication with all relevant parties and adherence to credit policies and approval authorities.Engages in restructuring and/or workout process to protect the Bank’s assets and maximize recovery.Guides and supports business lines, product groups, examinations functions and risk management function on high level credit and risk related issues.Prepares information for internal Bank meetings.Keeps the Chief Credit Officer apprised of credit underwriting developments.Participates in mentoring and staff development.Other Duties

Complies with all policies and procedures as applied to the Bank's BSA/AML policy.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills/Abilities

Credit analysis.Ability to analyze and interpret different types of financial statements, including company-prepared, tax returns and audits.Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.Maintain confidentiality.Education and Experience

College degree required.A minimum of ten years related experience, including commercial lending (commercial real estate lending preferred) experience.Strong credit skills – successful completion of a Commercial Credit Training Program.Jack Henry experience a plus.General business computer skills (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel).

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

Travel

Travel may be required for this position.
