What You'll Contribute to OHM Advisors
As a qualified construction engineer, you will support our office with managing and overseeing projects. The projects may include drainage and sewage systems or developing roadways and bridges. The construction engineer will need to have a strong understanding of DOT and Local Agency requirements that might affect projects. The position will be primarily focused on the management of projects and staff in the field setting. The position will partner with other OHM Advisors offices, disciplines, clients, and project owners / stakeholders.

What You'll Contribute to OHM Advisors

The position will partner with other OHM Advisors offices, disciplines, clients, and project owners / stakeholders.
Your Responsibilities
- Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and construction schedules are adhered to.
- Interface daily with project team members, our clients, contractors, and other technical experts and disciplines regarding project-related items.
- Effectively communicate project details to the project team and clients.
- Provide project-related guidance, coaching, and direction to staff.
Requirements
Education, Experience, & Licensure:
- Bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering or related field.
- 5 years' experience in the supervision, management, and training of staff.
- 10 years' experience in construction of underground utilities such as water mains, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers.
- 10 years' experience in Hot Mix Asphalt and Concrete Road construction.
- Has demonstrated experience serving as a liaison between field operations and the owner's Project Manager, with the ability to clearly communicate construction issues encountered in the field and proposed solutions, and then implement the chosen solution with the contractor.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan.
Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of established construction practices, procedures, and techniques as well as applicable local, State, and Federal delivery requirements.
- Management of a contractor's progress, construction budget, and schedule, and conducted regular meetings with the owner to provide project updates.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as work orders, safety rules, procedure manuals, and construction drawings/plans.
- Strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Computer skills including internet, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
Application criteria that is a plus:
- Experience in bridge construction.
- Experience with trenchless technologies.
- Experience with construction survey.
- Experience with project documentation.
- Experience with project submittal reviews.
- Experience with project close out and as built submittals.
