Position Overview

As Managing Director, you are expected to have a breadth of knowledge within the venture capital space. This role will involve sourcing deals from your professional network, nurturing leads, investment diligence, and building out our community. You will also be responsible for working with our founding team to raise our first fund. This is a ground-level role in building out the sister fund and capitalizing on our legacy as a leading growth agency and growing commerce community.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and scale Darkmatter investment activity by identifying high-quality opportunities.
  • Source investment opportunities, and create a robust deal flow pipeline.
  • Build out an investment network, including frequent SPV AUM.
  • Build rapport with entrepreneurs and other venture capital funds in the space.
  • Develop investment thesis, goals, and long-term strategies for Darkmatter. Tracking those goals to ensure fund targets are met.
  • Identify quality business opportunities, establish investment cases, and negotiate engagement terms and structure.
  • Validate and diligence potential businesses by evaluating their market opportunities, competition, product, sales, operations, financial statements and projections, equity needs, and capital structure.
  • Attend company meetings, monitor performance, and report on strategic objectives.
  • Network and work with Darkroom team to deploy events and dinners.


Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience within the venture capital space.
  • Proven experience in sourcing, securing, and nurturing investments. This includes the ability to identify exit opportunities, deal analytics, and term negotiation.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to collect, synthesize, and analyze relevant data.
  • Ability to identify alternative solutions, provide recommendations, and implement strategy to support active goals.
  • Attention to detail and organization are essential.
