Under the direction of the Senior Director of Sports Communications, the Sports Information Director (SID) is responsible for all sports information and promotion of the university’s competitive athletics teams (most of which compete in NCAA Division III), including the entirety of electronic media and all other sports-related publications. In addition, the SID and team have the responsibility for ensuring that all obligations to conferences (e.g. MIAA), the NCAA, or any other national governing bodies are met. In this role, the SID supervises student workers and provides work direction for the Sports Information Media Specialist.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serving as the news and sports media link between all 37 competitive teams, appropriate media outlets, conferences (i.e. MIAA), NCAA, opponents, and Trine community.Coordinating all game-day event management, including keeping statistics and other essential data and managing scoreboards where applicable.Coordinating with the Trine Broadcasting Network team to ensure the best possible video live streams.Completing the timely update of the athletic department website including but not limited to news, scores, statistics, photographs, biographies, schedules, contact information, and upcoming events.Writing and distributing post-game, pre-season outlook, season wrap-up, and recognition press releases to media outlets including hometown media outlets of Trine student/athletes.Coordinating the development of and/or assuming responsibility for all athletic department publications, sport media events, and social media (i.e. media guides, game-day programs, brochures, press conferences, Facebook, Twitter).Working closely with colleagues in Marketing & Communications to strategize, implement, and accomplish a consistent and premier level of institutional and Thunder athletic visibility.Overseeing all game-day press box, program sales, ticket personnel, and media/radio accommodations.Reporting statistical information and results to the conference office and NCAA if applicable.Maintaining accurate individual and team historical records, results, rosters, statistics, and assisting coaches in identifying and promoting opportunities for recognition.Producing the Thunder Club newsletter (4 times yearly) and coordinating and creating schedule cards.Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Sports Communication, Director of Athletics, and the Vice President for University Marketing & Communications.Education/Experience
