Our VDC designer creates and maintains detailed engineering drawings, schematics or specifications, typically using computer-aided design software. Works closely with design developers (e.g., engineers, designers) to clarify design details or discrepancies or produce drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs that require a high degree of precision using computer-aided drafting (CAD) or computer-aided engineering (CAE) equipment. Creates, modifies, and controls detailed two- and three-dimensional part and assembly drawings based on sketches, plans, and written and oral instructions from engineers and technicians. Develops and maintains design standards and procedures.Creates design and fabrication drawings for manufacturing using Autodesk Fabrication + Revit software platform systems for a variety of large, complex commercial and industrial construction projects. Provides on-site support to field staff as required and collaborates with other team leaders, the group manager, process managers, project managers, shop floor production managers and field sales managers. Reviews technical and contractual documents and coordinates architectural and structural documents with other project team members to ensure accuracy and completeness. Reviews equipment submission documents for accuracy and completeness. Coordinates construction drawings. Collaborates with other trades to ensure routing and clearances are understood and no obstructions are present. Conducts site surveys and field measurements as required to support conceptual and design drawing efforts. Performs final inspections and reviews commercial drawings prior to release for production. Provides finished and complex design drawings to the parts fabrication shop and to site management for use in the design and installation of materials and equipment. Reviews contract documents and construction drawings for apparent conflicts with architectural and structural documents and ensures compliance with local codes. Identifies any issues that arise during the review and are brought to the attention of Project Management for clarification and resolution via the Request For Information (RFI) process. Manages document control during the detailing process.2-5 years of relevant experience as a VDC designer (High School Diploma or GED) is required. An associate’s degree in drafting, design technology, or related field is preferred. Should have basic knowledge of current design software such as AutoDesk Fabrication and/or Revit. Working knowledge of drawing production and standard construction techniques and principles. TDIndustries is an equal opportunity employer.
