#LI-CC1In this critical role, you will be responsible for all accounting operations for the IXL Learning brand. This includes the production of financial reports, maintenance of an accounting system of records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets to ensure compliance with GAAP. This position will report directly to the VP Finance and will work closely with other members of the accounting and finance team to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be an experienced controller with both Big 4 CPA audit experience and software technology company experience in industry.

Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reportingEnsure accurate and timely production of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reportsPerform month-end accounting close functions including preparing journal entries, analyses and reconciliationsResponsible for the preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP as well as providing written analyses of variances against prior periods and budgetsReview and interpret accounting guidelines, including ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers), to determine appropriate revenue recognition for IXL School subscriptionsPerform stock compensation expense calculations and support 409A valuationDevelop and maintain an accounting system of records, policies, and procedures that comply with GAAP and other regulatory requirementsEstablish and maintain a comprehensive set of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial dataPrepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support business objectives and strategic initiativesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights, analysis, and support for decision-makingCoordinate and manage the annual external audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and timely completionMonitor and analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improvementDevelop and maintain cost accounting processes for management reportingStay updated on changes in accounting standards and tax regulations to ensure ongoing complianceProvide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional developmentConduct financial evaluations of investment opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, and new business venturesOversee and implement ERP accounting software to meet growing corporate needs on business and product integrationWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCPA designation is strongly preferredMinimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller for a minimum of 3 yearsPrior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm, specifically in the audit practice, is highly desirableStrong knowledge and understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles and regulationsTechnical expertise in revenue recognition and stock-based compensation a plusExperience in the software technology industry is preferredProficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; Experience with NetSuite is a plusExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detailStrong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentHigh level of integrity and professionalismABOUT IXL LEARNING
