CERTI005504Locations:Showing 1 locationAmherst Surgery Ctr915 North Lake StAmherst, OH 44001, USAUnder the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for filling the surgical scrub role on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competencies in each surgical specialty. Assists physicians and nurses in various medical and technical procedures. These functions must be in compliance with the philosophy of the hospital, standards of practice, and regulations of governing agencies.Minimum Qualifications:High School graduate or equivalent requiredCertification as a Surgical Technologist requiredTwo years previous experience as an operating room technician desiredCurrent BLSEssential Functions:Decision making concerning equipment and/or instrumentation sterilizationBiohazardous waste disposalPatient care and patient flowComplies with hospital practice standards regarding competent performance dutiesCreates a safe environment in which surgery may take placeUses medical equipment in a safe mannerHelps provide cost-effective patient careImplements principles of medical and surgical asepsis in accordance with recognized national standards and hospital-specific policies and proceduresProvides physical safety for the patientAccounts for sponges, needles, instruments, and other potential foreign bodiesSupports other hospital personnel in the performance of their dutiesAssists surgeon in scrubbed cases.........Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
