Northeastern Rural Health Clinics (NRHC) is located in Susanville, California next door to Banner Lassen Medical Center. NRHC is a 501(c) (3), Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of people in the community. NRHC is the largest provider of outpatient care to Lassen County. NRHC serves residents of Lassen, Plumas and Modoc County, with a population of approximately 37,125, with clinics in Susanville and Westwood. NRHC has been an important part of the area's healthcare system for over 40 years, providing comprehensive healthcare services.

The NRHC Dentist conducts a program of general practice dental care with responsibility for examination, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric and adult patients, emphasizing preventive care and instruction in dental hygiene. Provides dental treatment and advice to patients as may be indicated. The dentist will particularly serve in this role as a family dentist and will see patients in all age groups and serve as a consultant in dentistry to other health professions.

Qualifications:

Current unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of California; current CPR certificate. Must meet current dental continuing education requirements. Ability to provide quality customer service and to work well with others in a professional manner in a team oriented environment. Must have good reasoning abilities, maintain patient confidentiality, excellent communication and supervisory skills. Must possess current valid California Drivers License and liability insurance. Must have the ability to work various shifts and occasional Saturday shift if needed. Flexibility in schedule.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, balancing, reaching, twisting/turning, pulling, stand up lifting to 10 pounds, speaking/hearing on phone and in person, reading, writing, close eye work, repetitive motion of hands, fine and gross manipulation, up/down and side/side hand motion, work with VDTs, exposure to bodily fluids, exposure to infectious disease, exposure to emotional crisis of others, exposure to solvents/chemicals, exposure to public and staff, working with others, fast work pace, frequent change, frequent interruptions, independent problem solving, travel by auto to other sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Secures case history and related pertinent information. Examines patient, utilizes x-ray diagnostic services, interprets findings for differential diagnosis, diagnoses ailments, and performs necessary treatment, including surgical procedures, carrying out such follow-up treatment as may be dentally indicated.Refers patients for consultations to medical, surgical, or other adjunct services.Prescribes and/or dispenses required medication to patients.Consults with other dental and medical specialists, as required.Provides professional supervision to the assigned Dental Assistants and other assigned staff.Directs, organizes and participates in preventive dental health programs such as special dental screenings.Conducts and reports regular dental quality review measures as directed by Dental Director or supervisor.May provide services at local nursing homes or other patient facilities as appropriate.Exhibits professional behavior to staff and patients.Performs other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to do extra work as needed, on an intermittent basis.
