Salary:

$5,258 to $6,399 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)

Plans and conducts a public informational program for one of the larger State agencies to inform the general public or special interest groups of the activities of the agency and to stimulate interest in the activities; or in the State's major public information agency, prepares the full range of informational material on a wide variety of subjects for dissemination to the general public or special interest groups in the State of Hawaii as well as in other states and countries; and performs other duties as required.

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Basic Education/Experience:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

General Experience:

Two years of professional work experience in information research and dissemination or public relations work which involved analyzing and gathering pertinent information and writing materials for presentations, publications or news releases using accepted rules of standard English grammar, syntax, sentence structure, punctuation, etc.; selecting and utilizing various writing and other communication methods (e.g., brochures, radio announcements, newspaper articles) and styles to best reach target audiences; editing and analyzing materials; and establishing and maintaining effective relationships.

Specialized Experience:

One year of professional work experience in organizing, planning, and conducting a program to disseminate information about the activities and/or plans of an organization to the general public or to individuals especially affected by or interested in the organization's work. The experience must include dissemination of information through a variety of media on a continuous basis, ie., television, radio, newspapers, publications, etc.

Driver's License:

Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.
