SECURITY CONTROL OFFICER (MALES ONLY) - Juvenile Services

Serve in a support role to Juvenile Detention and Post-Adjudication Institutional staff by escorting detained juveniles from intra- and inter-locations in a safe and secure manner. De-escalate and counsel volatile and physically aggressive juveniles; maintain secure custody of detained residents; prevent escapes, assaults and misconduct by residents; conduct search and property inventory of new in-custody referrals; conduct dress in and release procedures; conduct personal and facility searches; screen and monitor visitation; counsel and assign disciplinary actions; receive and correctly distribute confidential resident information; assist with inter-departmental transportation and document all non-routine events. Conduct various housekeeping duties including resident laundry.POSTING MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME

High School Diploma or GED

two (2) full-time years of work experience in a related field,

INCLUDING

one (1) full-time year of work experience in working with children on a paid or voluntary basis.College degree (Associate's or higher) may substitute for experience requirements.Must have a

valid Texas Driver License

and

automobile liability insurance.Ability to be certified as a Texas Juvenile Detention Officer.Ability to be certified in First Aid, CPR and Non-Violent restraint.Knowledge of State Juvenile Detention Standards; understanding of adolescent behavior and facility security.If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually. While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to walk, stand, reach, hold and lift. Incumbent works primarily inside a locked secure facility and encounters potentially violent and hostile residents and visitors. May also be exposed to contagious medical diseases.
