The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller. The Staff Accountant performs senior level complex accounting functions and reporting through the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports the organization's finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. This position identifies process improvement opportunities and performs general accounting functions as assigned by management.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.Maintains responsibility for key Accounting functions (i.e. cash, investments, accounts receivable, prepaids, fixed assets, internally developed software, notes receivable, notes payable, leases, deferred rent, accounts payable, customer advances, accrued expenses, income taxes, rebates, payroll, etc.);Uses Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and controls that will prevent or reduce risk of potential misstatements or misappropriations;Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filingsEnsures timely reconciliation of all general ledger accounts that underlie the financial statements;Implement standard accounting, controls, analysis and reporting procedures. Prepare related correspondence to various state and federal entities;Maintains a monthly reforecast of revenue and expenses;Maintains insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities;Assists in the budgeting process and ensures that a timely and accurate budget is produced and approved by leadership. Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations;Education And/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; plus two (2) to four (4) years related accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have evidence of advanced working knowledge of MAS500, or equivalent accounting software, and strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred
