We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing firm in northern VA supporting internal audit and compliance efforts. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in accounting principles, a keen eye for accuracy, and the ability to ensure adherence to compliance standards.

General Responsibilities
Conduct regular internal audits to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and comply with established policies and procedures.Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and ensure the organization's financial practices remain compliant.Develop and implement compliance procedures to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records for audit purposes.Prepare and maintain documentation related to compliance processes, ensuring accessibility and accuracy.Generate financial reports for management, highlighting areas of concern or improvement in compliance and audit processes.Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Work closely with cross-functional teams to address audit findings and implement corrective actions.Provide guidance to other departments on financial and compliance-related matters.Identify opportunities to enhance internal controls and streamline compliance processes.Participate in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Proven experience in financial auditing and compliance within a corporate setting.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.Experience working with accounting systems such as Quickbooks, Great Plains, NetSuite, etc.
