As the Children's Director, you are entrusted with the sacred task of molding the spiritual foundation of our youngest attenders, ranging from toddlers to fifth graders. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that they not only grasp the core teachings of the Bible but also cultivate a genuine, enduring love for God that will guide them throughout their lives.Your leadership will be instrumental in creating a nurturing environment where children feel a sense of belonging, are fortified against external pressures, and are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Christ. Recognizing the invaluable role of parents as primary spiritual mentors, you will also be tasked with empowering them and providing them with the resources and guidance they need to lead their children in faith.Beyond direct interactions with the children, you will play a crucial role in the development and support of the adult children's team. By equipping them with the necessary resources, training, and continuous mentorship, you ensure that they are well-prepared to guide our children effectively, contributing significantly to their spiritual journey.Your responsibilities also encompass the administrative facets of the children's ministry. From event planning and coordination with other church departments to budgeting and ensuring alignment with the church's overarching mission and vision, your organizational understanding will be key to the seamless operation of the children's ministry.We envision this role as a collaborative force within the church, dedicated to laying a strong spiritual foundation for our children. Our aim is to nurture them into becoming steadfast and compassionate believers who ardently carry forth the Gospel's light.ResponsibilitiesLead and organize comprehensive children's programs that seamlessly integrate fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism. Create opportunities for ministry and mission that resonate with children's unique perspectives. (Acts 2:42, John 4:24, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19-20)Actively recruit and train a diverse volunteer children's team, emphasizing a range of skills to enrich the children's ministry. Commit resources to nurture and grow this team, ensuring a safe and effective volunteer-to-child ratio of at least 1 to 8. (1 Peter 4:10)Regularly equip parents with resources and tools, positioning them as the primary spiritual mentors for their children. This includes facilitating workshops, providing materials for family devotions, and offering guidance on fostering spiritual formation at home. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)Offer counseling and spiritual direction to parents, assisting them in navigating challenges related to their children's spiritual growth. This can be done both personally and in collaboration with the Leadership Team. Ensure that parents have access to biblically-based guidance on parenting issues. (Proverbs 11:14, Titus 2:4-8)Maintain proactive communication with parents, keeping them updated on children's ministry activities, insights into their child's spiritual progress, and available resources. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)Design and execute annual family ministry activities that cater to the entire family unit, either in conjunction with other church events or as standalone initiatives. These events should foster family bonds and collective spiritual growth. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Ephesians 6:4)Update and maintain the children's ministry's digital platforms, including social media and church website pages, ensuring they reflect the vibrant spirit of the ministry. (Mark 16:15)Assist in formulating and overseeing the children's ministry budget, ensuring prudent allocation and utilization of funds. (Luke 14:28)Ensure all children's ministry initiatives resonate with and actively champion the overarching vision and mission of Nags Head Church. (Ephesians 4:16)Prioritize the safety and well-being of the children in all activities. Implement regular facility checks, conduct background checks for all volunteers, and adhere to established safety guidelines. (Psalm 127:3)Given the size of our church, staff members may occasionally take on duties beyond their specific roles, working collectively to fulfill the church's mission. (Galatians 6:2)QualificationsComprehensive Administration and Coordination: Demonstrated ability to administer and coordinate all children's activities and programs, ensuring they align with the church's vision and goals. Strong organizational and time management skills are also crucial for effective program management.Biblical and Theological Proficiency: Strong understanding of the Bible and Christian theology, ensuring teachings are rooted in scriptural truths.Passion for Spiritual Growth: A commitment to the mission and beliefs of Nags Head Church, with an emphasis on connecting children and families to Jesus. This includes fostering personal faith growth and assisting children in their spiritual journey.Innovative Leadership: Ability to consistently generate fresh, new ideas for the children's ministry, preventing stagnation and ensuring the program remains relevant and engaging.Experience and Knowledge: A BA/BS degree, ideally in Christian Education, Early Development, or Children’s Ministry, with a minimum of 2 years of ministry serving experience is preferred.Working ConditionsThis full-time position requires flexibility in scheduling, including the occasional evening and weekend commitments.To ApplyPlease send your resume, cover letter, and references to Terry Moore, the Executive Pastor, at terry@nagsheadchurch.org.
