Description:First UMC Director of Preschool is to create a safe and loving place for children to learn, play, and experience God’s love in a Preschool setting. The FUMC Director of Preschool is the administrator that hires and leads the staff in managing the daily activities of the preschool. The FUMC Director of Preschool is responsible for facilitating the preschool’s vision through various administrative duties: personnel management, preschool policies and procedures, curriculum and planning, leading and training techniques on instruction, communications, finance, and facilities management.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPersonnel Management/VisionDevelops core values and goals for the PreschoolSupervises Preschool staff including hiring, training, coaching, and evaluatingProvides staff development, including but not limited to: CPR, AED, First Aid, Security Situational Awareness, Safe SanctuaryFacilitates Preschool staff meetingsFacilitates Preschool Committee meetingsCurriculum and PlanningAligns curriculum to meet all state requirementsDevelops yearly and monthly pacing guidesSchedules enrichment activities, including but not limited to: field trips, pictures, graduation, etc.Plans and assists teachers in implementing weekly themes and curriculumInstructionDirector serves as a substitute when needed for classroom teachersDirector coordinates weekly Tumble Time class for 2s, 3s, and 4sDirector coordinates weekly Music class for 2s, 3s, and 4sDirector assists daily in classrooms to interact with all childrenPolicies and ProceduresUpdates Preschool Parent and Staff Handbooks in alignment with First UMC Staff Handbook proceduresOversees records and files including but not limited to: enrollment files, staff development recordsOrders background checks through First UMC Business OfficeSchedules meetings to facilitate and train Preschool Staff and volunteers to maintain policies and proceduresCommunications and MarketingCreates and publishes monthly newsletterCommunicates in partnership with the Director of Communication Preschool happenings in appropriate waysCreate ways to promote and advertise the PreschoolEmails daily reminders to parentsFacilities ManagementServes as Greeter and Face of First UMC Preschool through greeting children and ensuring they enter and exit our Preschool facilities safelyEnsures classroom student-to-teacher ratios meet state requirementsOrders and maintains suppliesMaintains physical environment that meets State’s safety guidelinesFollows Safe Sanctuaries policiesAttends weekly Church staff meetingsFinanceCreates and maintains preschool budgetManages monthly tuition depositsSubmits bi-weekly payrollQualifications:

EducationHigh school diplomaAssociate degree in early childhood education or equivalentSpecialized knowledgePreferred Bachelor Degrees: Early Childhood Education or Elementary EducationMaster’s in Educational Leadership and AdministrationSkillsStrong Leadership and team building skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organization and planning skillsAbilitiesKnowledgeable about curriculum and teaching methodsProficient in Word, Excel, Publisher, QuickbooksPersonal CharacteristicsDefines their character through Jesus ChristExcellent Interpersonal skills to relate to young children, parents, and teachersDemonstrate God’s love and grace to allJoyfully serve children, families, and colleagues to give honor and glory to GodProfessional certificationNC Early Childhood Credential or Teacher License PreferredNC Early Childhood Administrator Credential or Master’s License PreferredCPR, AED, and First Aid Credential or willingness to obtain within 60 daysExperience requiredSeveral years of teaching or childcare experienceExperience with personnel management preferred
