About Nantucket Police Department
The Nantucket Police Department is a full-service agency responsible for five major public safety functions: Police, Emergency Communications, Marine Safety, Emergency Management, and Business Licensing. The department has 41 full-time sworn officers, 21 full-time non-sworn staff, two non-sworn part-time staff, and 92 seasonal staff. There are opportunities to join specialty units (Detectives, ACO, SRO, Motorcycle Unit, Marine Unit, Neighborhood Officer, and Airport Officer) after just 1 year on the job. Officers work on the Pitman schedule to offer community support and protection 24/7.
