Position Overview:

We are seeking a senior Red Hat Systems Administrator to lead the administration and operational support for a major federal migration and modernization project from on-prem infrastructure to AWS GovCloud. This role encompasses managing Red Hat Linux servers that host IBM WebSphere Application Server and DB2 databases, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and strict compliance with federal security standards throughout the migration process and ongoing operations.Key Responsibilities:

System Migration and Management:

Oversee the migration of Red Hat Linux systems, including servers running IBM WebSphere Application Server and DB2 databases, to AWS GovCloud. Ensure a secure and efficient transition with minimal disruption to existing services.

Comprehensive System Administration:

Manage and maintain Red Hat Linux servers, ensuring they are optimized for performance and configured to meet project requirements. Administer IBM WebSphere and DB2 environments to support application needs.

Security Compliance and STIG Implementation:

Implement and manage security measures following federal guidelines, including the application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and regular compliance audits. Maintain systems in accordance with FedRAMP, NIST, and other federal security standards.

Automation and Efficiency:

Leverage automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to streamline administrative tasks across both on-prem and cloud environments. Develop scripts to automate maintenance, monitoring, and deployment tasks, enhancing system reliability and operational efficiency.

Troubleshooting and Technical Support:

Serve as the primary expert for troubleshooting complex issues related to Red Hat Linux, IBM WebSphere, and DB2. Provide high-level support and ensure continuous system availability and reliability.

Documentation and Compliance Reporting:

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on system configurations, migration procedures, and compliance measures. Document all STIG implementations and security compliance activities to ensure audit readiness.

Required Qualifications:

Professional Experience:

At least 7 years of system administration experience, specifically with Red Hat Linux environments, and substantial experience managing IBM WebSphere Application Server and DB2 databases.

Technical Proficiency:

Expert knowledge of Red Hat Linux, IBM WebSphere, DB2, virtualization technologies, and AWS cloud services. Proficiency in using automation tools for system management.

Security and Compliance Expertise:

Deep understanding of federal security regulations and the STIG process. Experience ensuring compliance with FedRAMP, NIST, and other relevant standards.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and the ability to manage complex technical challenges effectively.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other container technologies.

Advanced scripting abilities in Bash, Python, or Perl.

Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.

Certifications: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), and AWS certifications highly preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Clearance Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.Work Location:

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $102,400 - $128,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
