Positions allocable to this class function as para-professional support to sworn personnel and are distinguished by the need to exercise independent judgment and initiative while under the direct and/or functional supervision of designated sworn personnel.Assists in supervising the conduct of inmates in various activities.Assists in processing inmates for court appearances.Controls access to various areas within the facility.Interviews inmates and reviews records for classification.Maintains order and security in the facility.Responds to public inquiries regarding inmates.SELECTION REQUIREMENTSAGE:

IV - Arduous.WORK CONDITIONSThe Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department operates 24/7 at various locations. Appointees must be willing to work any shift, overtime, and deal with diverse situations.EXAMINATION CONTENTThe examination will consist of a computer-based multiple-choice test assessing various skills.
