The successful candidate will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team developing physical models for the northern Pacific Ocean, Bering, Chukchi, and Arctic Seas to guide management decisions. The fellow will lead building a coupled ice-surge-wave forecast model for western Alaska and contribute additional ideas aligning with the grant's goals.The successful applicant will work with the Cooperative Institute of Great Lakes Research (CIGLR) at the University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability in Ann Arbor. The fellow will primarily work at NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL) under the joint supervision of Dr. Ayumi Fujisaki-Manome (UM-CIGLR) and Dr. Jia Wang (NOAA-GLERL). The postdoctoral fellow will also interact with earth and climate scientists on the University of Michigan's main campus.The position requires a Ph.D. in physical oceanography, meteorology, or a related field, with expertise in physical modeling (ice, ocean, wave, or atmospheric modeling).
