POSITION SUMMARYThe Therapist is responsible for coordinating mental health care services for American Indian clients in Los Angeles County. They will provide assessment and counseling/therapy to eligible children, youth, and adults as a member of a treatment team. The Therapist is part of a multi-disciplinary team who works collaboratively with other treatment team members, other UAII service providers, and community partners.ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESConduct program intakes and psychosocial assessmentsProvide individual, couples and family therapy using evidence-based interventionsProvide psychoeducational group sessions such as parenting classes and support groupsConduct crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed/requiredDevelop treatment plans in consultation with clientsConduct in-home visits, on occasion and as neededPartner with Case Coordinator to obtain resources and referrals for the client to sustain the client's involvement in center programs/treatmentMaintain aftercare follow-up and support/assistance to clients completing center programs/treatmentPartner in case planning with other center clinicians, consulting specialists, and representatives from schools, DCFS, and other jurisdictions as required or neededParticipate in Outpatient Staff meetings, Clinical Case Conferences, and other meetings as appropriate or assignedConduct in-service training to center staff and others as assignedProductivity - 65% of hours worked each week must be billable productivity. For a 40-hour workweek, the billable productivity requirement is 26 hoursAble to submit all completed paperwork to supervisor within 24 hours of seeing clientMaintain client charts in a responsible manner and meet all paperwork deadlines as required by DCFS, DMH and agency policy (e.g. complete case notes and discharge notes on a timely basis, etc.)Arrange work schedule to benefit the center program and clients with the approval of Clinical Supervisor/Program DirectorComply with agency guidelines, policies, and proceduresKeep Program Director well-informed regarding activities, pending issues and potential problemsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSQualifications:Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detailStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, and external partnersExpert-level written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilityResourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independentlyProven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and responseDemonstrated ability to achieve performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentActively seeks opportunities and proposes solutionsAble to follow directions and use sound judgment when clear direction is unavailableEducation & Experience:MA in clinical psychology, MSW, or Ph.D./Psy.D. in psychology from an accredited graduate programMinimum one-year clinical experience working with multiple-problem families (e.g. unemployment, poverty, substance abuse, homelessness, etc.)Minimum one-year clinical experience with children and familiesSome experience providing home-based/community-based counseling servicesCertifications:LMFT, LCSWCalifornia license from the Board of Behavioral SciencesConfidentiality:Maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information adhering to HIPPA, professional codes of conduct, State of CA regulations, Privacy Act, and UAII policies and proceduresThis position has access to sensitive information, and a breach in confidentiality will be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including immediate terminationCommunication/ Interpersonal Skills:Possess the ability to communicate with others in a courteous and professional mannerExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficient in EnglishTechnology Skills:Working knowledge of MS Office, Google SuiteAbility to use iPadOther:Demonstrate ability to exercise a high level of judgment, accept supervision, and exercise a high level of accuracy and organizationAvailable and willing to travel as neededAvailable to work evening and weekend hours as neededAccuracy and attention to detail is a mustWillingness to learn new skills and participate in training sessions relevant to the positionAvailable and willing to travel as needed, travel time can be between 25-40%POSITION PREFERENCESExperience working with the American Indian/Alaskan Native communityExperience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and performance-based government contracts.Knowledge of Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (Public Law 93-638)Bilingual in Spanish or ASL fluencyWORK ENVIRONMENTWork Environment:The work environment characteristics described here represent those employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk frequently, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear. There are prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision.
