A full-time postdoctoral fellow position in high-throughput and high-content screening (HTS/HCS) sciences is available in the Center for Drug Discovery (CDD), drug discovery and development shared resource (D3SR). The D3SR is a diverse multidisciplinary research team comprised of scientists with expertise in robotic automation, HTS/HCS drug discovery, pharmacology, and hit-to-lead drug validation. The laboratory is located in outstanding new facilities with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation. We are seeking a talented individual with a background cell culture, molecular biology, and pharmacology to join our team. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who is willing to learn and able to work effectively independently and as a contributing team member. She/He will obtain training and experience in utilizing and maintaining state-of-the-art HTS/HCS drug discovery instrumentation and automation equipment.

Examples of Work Performed

Lead and conduct experiments and data analyses supporting a variety projects such as cell culture, HTS/HCS assay development, robotic automation, drug discovery, and hit-to-lead drug validation studies.Compile and record observed experimental results, analyze and interpret data, document results, and present research results in weekly lab meetings.Collaborate with all members of the research team to review scientific literature, develop experimental protocols, and conduct data analyses.Lead and collaborate with writing manuscripts, including figures, graphs, and charts for publication in scientific journals.Provide general laboratory administration such as maintaining lab records and notebook, general lab clean up, and lab organization.

Minimum Requirements

A PhD and/or MD degree with research experience in biochemistry and molecular and cell biology or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with big data analysis protein purification and recombinant enzyme assays, cell culture, cell imaging, and a variety of cell assays such as cell viability, Western blot, immunofluorescence, and endogenous reporter assays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the research team.Excellent organizational skills.Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and work independently.Excellent attention to detail.Ability to design experiments, collect, process, and analyze data.Experience with basic science techniques.

Salary and Benefits:

The budgeted salary for this position is $54,840. The salary for this position uses NIH guidelines for postdoctoral fellowships commensurate with years of experience since earning a PhD or MD.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
