JOB SUMMARYThe Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.The Physician Assistant will provide patient care in the Emergency Department on a rotating schedule. The clinical care areas include acute care and observation at BWH, acute care and observation at Faulkner Hospital and urgent care at Brigham and Women’s Foxborough Urgent Care sites. As part of comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel patients and interreact with family members and colleagues and prescribe medications. PAs will work under the direct supervision of an attending Emergency Medicine physician unless they meet the criteria in the EM PA Independent Clinical Guidelines. This consists of a minimum of two years of EM experience and demonstration of clinical excellence.
