Job Description:POSITION PURPOSEProvides physical therapy services for Catalina Island Medical Center Acute care patients, Skilled Nursing Unit Residents, and Outpatients. SUMMARYAll employees are expected to perform their duties as set forth here and in accordance with all policies and procedures and Mission, Values, and Vision of Catalina Island Medical Center "CIMC." The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction with respect and dignity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Evaluates patient needs, establishes physical therapy treatment plans and goals for each patient. Carries out prescribed treatments as ordered by the physician.2. Documents patient treatment and reports patient's progress to the prescribing physician.3. Participates in patient and family education. Participates in patient care conferences.4. ssists department manager in performing Quality Measures and monitors department problems.5. Responsible for observing departmental policies and procedures.6. Responsible for care of the facility and equipment related to the P.T. Department7. Maintains professional standards regarding treatment procedures and ethics.8. Maintains the safety of property and patients under treatment.9. ssists department manager in assessing department staffing needs.10. Maintains all departmental records per department policies.11. ssists department manager in estimating the needs of the department and ordering supplies and equipment when needed.12. ssist in Therapy Department new-hire training. ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTIONS1. Be compliant with organizational policies and procedures and related departmental procedures.2. Follow all HIPAA regulations as outlined in the HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual.3. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.4. WORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed in a Critical Access/ Rural Health Clinic environment. It involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and other CIMC staff. The employee could be exposed to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions that are common to the clinical environment. Safety policies and good health practices are expected to be understood and observed. Physical / Mental Demands1. Work closely with patients in all age categories. Patients are treated with care and compassion and with special regard for age-specific considerations.2. Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. EDUCATION CERTIFICATIONGraduation from a School of Physical Therapy approved by the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association EXPERIENCE•One year of experience as a practicing Physical Therapist REQUIREMENTS1. Possession of a valid license to practice Physical Therapy issued by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board.
