POSITION SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Senior Director of Facility Operations, the Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and functional environment within our facilities by addressing and resolving maintenance issues promptly and efficiently. The primary role of the Facility Technician involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment and systems of all properties owned and operated by The San Diego LGBT Center. This position is also responsible for coordinating all maintenance activities in accordance with all policies of the agency and professional standards of excellence.PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:General maintenance and repairs.Identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions.Conducting preventive maintenance and responding to emergency repair requests.Ensuring compliance with safety regulations.Landscaping and maintaining the appearance of grounds.Assist with general daily housekeeping.Maintain contacts for needed trade professionals which will include, but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, appliances, elevator service/inspections, HVAC systems service/inspections, SDHC unit and building inspections, fire suppression and alarm systems, and other general servicesDaily security of the buildings.Provision of consumable maintenance materials needed at each site.Organize and maintain all tools and equipment ensuring all are in proper order and safe to operate.Work in tandem and assist the Facility Coordinator to coordinate maintenance, inspections and other needed facilities items at Sunburst Youth Housing and other Center properties.Assist with orientation/on-boarding of new staff to Center facilities.Required Qualifications:Education/Experience : At least 1 year of demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance.Professional Skills : Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with colleagues, management, and external contractors. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.Personal Skills : Outgoing and personable; comfort with speaking to staff and tenants about facility maintenance; familiarity with the LGBTQ+ communities and the work of The Center.Technology Skills : Proficiency with PC/Windows-based environments, and Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.Language Skills : Fluency in English.preferred QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience : General building operations, or a related field is preferred.Professional Skills : Demonstrated competence in working with a variety of diverse populations.Language Skills : Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:Compensation : The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50 and is commensurate with experience.
