UETN provides network and IT solutions for educational institutions throughout Utah. This position is integral in providing systems and services to all UETN Stakeholders. We are looking for a Senior Database & Systems Administrator. Responsibilities include traditional database administration, monitoring system performance, and configuring software and hardware.Develops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures ensuring the security and integrity of the UETN’s databases.

Implements data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance.

Resolves database performance, capacity, replication, and other distributed data issues.

Works with the applications team to design database objects that meet business requirements and production standards.

Ensures the performance of the databases and application code from development to production.

Installs and migrates object changes through multiple test environments and production.

Works on complex projects with software design engineers.

Develops and implements database recovery plans and procedures.

Installs, upgrades, and tests database software.

Works on multiple projects simultaneously which span multiple application releases.

Maintains database and systems servers to current patch levels and works with developers to ensure compatibility with the application code base.

Maintains systems that support application development and data analysis.

Serves as System Administrator for database and web-tier application servers.

Responsibilities:Serves as Database Administrator for UETN Enterprise Operations Support.

Maintain and administer PostgreSQL and MSSQL Database servers for applications supporting users on multiple remote campus sites.

Manage a PostgreSQL cluster with streaming replication using Pgpool-II

Administer and configure, Apache, Tomcat, and various other application platforms.

Maintain and support software development tools, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and SonarQube.

Monitor services for functionality and end-user accessibility.

Maintain existing software versions, updates, and patches to maintain to current levels.

Plan, organize, and implement necessary technology to meet institutional needs.

Assist UETN technical staff to develop and implement standard backup and recovery procedures and contribute to a complete disaster recovery plan.

Work with other institutional and UETN Enterprise Application Support staff to resolve issues efficiently.

Respond to computer support help requests and resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and amicable manner.

Document methods and resources used to resolve issues.

Set up and configure new servers and services as needed.

Assist in project-based system administration tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Require a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and at least 5 years of experience in database administration or in a related area. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.Preferences:Experience with PostgreSQL, Pgpool—II, and MSSQL .

Experience with Ubuntu Linux, Ansible, and Bash Scripting

Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.)

Ability to learn and adapt to changes in industry technologies and platforms.

Demonstrated Problem solver.

Experience with identity access management tools and concepts, RBAC , ABAC , and PBAC .
