DATABASE ADMINISTRATORObjectivesProvides database design, construction and support to computer users within Chugach Electric.Installs,upgrades, andmaintainsdatabases software.Monitors the database performance and capacities and optimizes for efficient performance.Develops naming standards, in-house educational material, recovery and backup procedures, standards, and language interfaces as necessary.Researchcomputer anddatabasetechnologiesthatmaybenefit the Association's database operations, including investigating alternatives, planning configuration changes, making recommendations, and implementing any changes deemed necessary.Serves as primary database coordinator and member of project teams forapplication development,upgrades and changes.ReportingRelationshipReportsto: Manager,NetworkandTechnicalServices, InformationServicesDirects: NoneResponsibilitiesandAuthoritiesPerformsPersonallyControlsandmonitorssystem-levelanddatabaseowneraccessto enterprise production databases.Createsandmaintainsahigh-leveldatamodelforallnetworked databases.Directs,coordinates,createsandmaintains databaseelementsinall production networked databases.Performs SQL database programming to provide data to front-end applications.Responsiblefor database backupand recovery,scheduling,and disaster prevention.Responsibleforadequatedataretentiononthedatabases.Monitors database performance and capacities and optimizes them for efficiency.Coordinates with Systems Programmers, Analyst Programmers and Network Administrators when necessary.Providesin-depth technicalsupportforresolvingdatabase-related problems.Develops and maintains naming standards, in-house educational material and language interfaces to database as necessary.Plansandimplementsinstallationandupdatestothedatabase software.Acts as primary contact between Chugach and database software vendorsfor problem resolution, support and maintenance issues.Maintainsoperations-rundocumentation.Providescostandbenefit analysisforproposed database-related upgrades, projects and support tasks, as required.Provides application and platform-based impact assessment for proposed upgrade projects and support tasks, as required.RelationshipsInternalManager,Networkand TechnicalServices,InformationServicesReportstoandreceives directionanddecisions from.

Keepsmanager fully informed of progress and problems.Underthedirectionofthemanager,allocatesandmanages database resources.Analyst&SystemProgrammersAdvisesintechnicalareaswithrespect todatabasesoftware and connectivity issues.Works directly with, to ensure smooth and efficient database communications.Cooperates and shares expertise in determining methods and procedures to improve cross-platform connectivityand multi-platform database issues.Network AdministratorAdvises in technical areas with respect to database software and connectivity issues.Works directly with, to ensure smooth and efficient database communications.Cooperates and shares expertise in determining methods and proceduresto improvecross-platform connectivityand multi-platform database issues.Other Information Services Department personnel: Coordinate with, to improve database procedures and practices.UserCommunity:Assistsinanswering database-relatedsoftware questions.Recommends database-relatedsoftware.Chugach management staff inother departments:Assists inanswering database-relatedsoftware questions.Recommendsdatabase configurations.ExternalDatabase software vendors:Obtains information, support and repair of database software.WorkingConditionsStandardofficeenvironment.Thisposition issubjecttocall-outoutside ofnormalworking hourswith some weekend work.Company Description
