JOB SUMMARYThe Art Teacher provides a high quality, personalized education program in general children's art.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEstablish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will attend collegeDevelop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with California State Standards and Aspire Instructional GuidelinesAssess students regularly and analyze student results; refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needsCollaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practicesCommunicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progressInvolve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ educationManage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engagedActively participate in professional development activities, and work closely with lead teachers, principal, and instructional coachesMaintain accurate student records including attendanceIdentify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needsDemonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behaviorAdditional:Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behaviorPerform other related duties as required and assigned.QUALIFICATIONSCompetencies:Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning stylesKnowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworksKnowledge of assessmentsAbility and willingness to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and Best PracticesAbility to analyze qualitative and quantitative student dataAbility and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practicesAbility to collaborate with colleagues, parents and communityMinimum educational level:Bachelor’s degree requiredSingle subject: Art authorization required; Including English learner authorization required.Experience required:At least one school year of successful service in a certificated positionPhysical requirements:Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder heightRepetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)Demonstrate normal depth perceptionSitting, walking or standing for extended periods of timeDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephoneSee and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aidsHear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aidesWork authorization requirements:Clear the Department of Justice background screeningAuthorized to work in the United StatesProvide health (TB) clearance (must be renewed every four years)The salary band for this position is $66,593- $126,836 based on years of experience
