Job Summary:

The MedProducts Life Cycle Manager applies clinical nursing background, knowledge, and expertise to manage and coordinate organization-wide product review, evaluation, trials, selection process, procurement, and implementation of medical, surgical, and procedural healthcare products and equipment utilized across multiple licensed Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) entities. Facilitates product standardization across entities and coordinates education processes for end-users through Staff Development and department educators. Applies Supply Chain Management (SCM) principles and methodologies to everyday practice. Interfaces between Clinicians, Information Systems and Technology, Clinical Engineering, and Suppliers as the Supply Chain resource. Works closely with departments on quality, patient safety, and patient care initiatives. Reviews electronic event reports (EERs) related to product or equipment concerns or failure, researches issues and determines root cause. Identifies opportunities for improvement and takes appropriate action with a focus on eliminating preventable patient care errors and enhancing patient, clinician, and environmental safety. Addresses and resolves issues affecting the on-time procurement of products, e.g., backorders, recalls, product failures, discontinuation, and other concerns regarding product and equipment. Notifies clinical leadership and end-users when product and equipment availability is at risk or permanently discontinued. Reviews current product to determine if a similar product is in inventory at one of the locations under LLUH and connects with leadership and end-users to explore the suitability of alternative products. Escalates unresolved issues as deemed appropriate. Chairs and/or participates in multiple SCM-related committees/sub-committees, e.g., product evaluation, value analysis, pharmacy and therapeutics, medical device, product standardization, process and quality improvement, patient safety, others as assigned. Functions in a dual reporting structure: a solid line to the Director-SCM Strategy and a dotted line to the nursing Executive Director. Performs other duties as needed.Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required. Master's Degree in business, healthcare, or related field preferred. Four years of recent hospital experience required.Knowledge and Skills:

Basic knowledge of medical equipment and supply chain required. Applies customer satisfaction principles to internal and external contacts and able to form solid partnerships. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary for the position e.g., Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to communicate in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone. Relates positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules, and regulations; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; analyze information and problem solve, work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; strong organizational skills; compose written material; prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary for the position.Licenses and Certifications:

Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
