Position Summary

GW Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) contracts to provide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and other medical services to venues and facilities within Washington DC. The purpose of this position is to help fulfill these contracts. The position will provide Advanced Life Support within the NRP scope of practice to include medical evaluation, treatment, stabilization, and transfer of care to the sick and injured. Further, he/she will respond to emergency medical situations involving all types of emergencies, potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintain (self or scene) control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs required documentation and, other duties as required. The position expects to perform all skills required of an American Heart Association-certified healthcare CPR provider. Also, this position will also work within our operational protocols to help with COVID and other vaccinations and testing as needed.

Must be able to administer proper treatment under the scope of a Paramedic by utilizing appropriate techniques and medical equipment.

Must be able to appropriately document medical care in an electronic medical record.

Must be able to Adhere to all policies of GW MFA, institutional and regulatory bodies

Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside the GW Medical Faculty Associates.

Must be able to do medication calculations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Licensure

Current and valid ALS certification and/or RN license in the District of Columbia

Experience

A minimum of one year as a released Paramedic.

Physical Requirements

Sit, walk, and reach out for long periods of time in a clinical setting.

Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 20 lbs. as part of the role.

Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.

Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
