02/11/2019Position QualificationPosition SummaryThe Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center ( UNMC ) in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a highly energetic, motivated and collegial physician to join our growing Palliative Medicine faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to join and then build a small but growing practice that provides care in the inpatient and outpatient settings and promotes the popular interprofessional education programs of the larger Division. Ideally this individual would have interests and experience suitable for becoming or working towards becoming the Section Chief for Palliative Medicine in the Division. Plans are in place to recruit multiple faculty in this area and to build towards the launch of a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.The selected candidate will join the medical staff of Nebraska Medicine, the region’s premier academic medical center. Comprised of 30 members, including 10 physicians, the Division provides clinical care in the outpatient, inpatient, and nursing home settings. The Division also works closely with other Divisions in the Department of Internal Medicine as well as other Departments to provide interdisciplinary Palliative Care services. Our faculty is devoted to education at all levels from health professions students through fellowship and continuing education. The Division also conducts basic, translational, and clinical research related to Aging and Geriatrics, but is looking to develop research related to Palliative Care.The successful candidate must be an MD/DO (or equivalent degree) who is a board certified/eligible in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. Candidates should have an interest in teaching along with passion to help patients and their families deal with serious life threatening illness and symptom management.Required QualificationsMD, DO,
