This full-time, exempt position reports to the Behavioral Health Services Manager. This role is based in San Rafael, CA, operating out of our Behavioral Health Department.Please find the full job description below.Position Description:The Lead Substance Use Disorder Counselor (LSUDC) is a critical role as a member of the Safety Net program and larger Behavioral Health Department. This role splits time between direct client care and supporting the Behavioral Health Services Manager in meeting county, DHCS, and Drug Medi-Cal standards and supervision of program staff. The LSUDC provides critical alcohol and other drug assessment and referral services to clients referred to the Safety Net Program in a manner that reflects Ritter Center’s mission and values. Through individual and group counseling, the SUDC assists clients in mobilizing their resources so they can participate in the exploration of treatment challenges and its ramifications. This individual will consider clients’ attitudes and feelings and develop solutions to support informed decision-making. The role requires strong interpersonal communication and engagement skills, administrative capacities, and a thorough understanding of alcohol and drug treatment options.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Supervise 2-3 registered/certified counselors.Monitor clinical charts for compliance, and attend County and other meetings to represent the program.Lead program staff meetings according to schedule.Carry a caseload of clients in Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, and Recovery Services levels of care.Support the delivery of the program milieu and adjust to meet the current needs of clients in the program.Qualifications:Must be certified by the California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE), California Association of Drinking Driver Treatment Programs (CADTP), or California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP).Have experience as a manager or director in similar roles.Minimum of 2 year’s experience in drug and alcohol counseling (1 year of experience required for Masters level clinicians)Must have strong group, individual, documentation, administrative, and supervisory skills.
