Fire Alarm InspectorFS Facilities ServicesFull TimeJob SummaryThe Fire and Life Safety Unit in the Facilities Services Department is responsible for the Fire Alarm systems maintenance, operation, repairs, design, installation, programming, testing and inspection, along with Fire Extinguishers maintenance and inspection. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for Fire Sprinkler maintenance, service, testing and inspection at UCSF. Under the direction of the Fire and Life Safety Systems program leadership, the incumbent will test and inspect fire and life safety systems and assist in installation, maintenance and repair of equipment.Department DescriptionThe UCSF Facilities Services Department (FS) is committed to creating an exceptional campus physical environment to support the research, teaching, health care and community service mission of the University. FS employs over 460 professional staff and acts as steward for over $100 million in operating funds to achieve its goals in operating and maintaining the UCSF campus environment. FS is organized into 7 operating units: (1) West Campus/Parnassus Operations, (2) East Campus/Mission Bay Operations, (3) Engineering & Utilities, (4) Infrastructure & Renewal Programs, (5) Customer Service & Technology, (6) Custodial Services, and (7) Office of the AVC, including Administration & Communications.Required QualificationsTwo (2) years of experience working in a facilities organization or an equivalentcombination of education and experienceAbility to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with campus departments at all levels, contractors and design consultants; ability to effectively interact with a diverse professional staff both independently and as a team member in a busy environmentAbility to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reportsAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructionsProficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)Able to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysisFingerprinting, background check, and physical examination requiredPreferred QualificationsUniversity and/or Medical Center experienceWorking knowledge of applicable building and safety codesDemonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of Fire Safety inspection processAbility to read and interpret construction drawings
