The Legal Clinic (TLC) is seeking a full-time legal assistant to join our small but growing team. TLC is a Honolulu-based nonprofit organization with a mission to restore hope, dignity, and justice for low-income immigrants through high-quality immigration legal services, education, and advocacy.Responsibilities:Client screening duties and carry out tasks to support the legal services teamClient communications (i.e. screening, scheduling, intake, letters, and email and phone follow-up)Case file management; notetaking and data entry; meeting setup; document preparation, tracking, scanning, and mailing; case- and resource-related research; assistance with drafting cover letters, motions, affidavits, petitions, briefs, and appeals (with attorney training/supervision)Event supportCoordination of language interpretation/translation servicesClient support before and during U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services interviewsAdditional administrative duties as assignedQualifications:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or higher, preferredPrevious administrative assistant or legal assistant experience preferredMust be detail-oriented and possess superb organizational skillsAbility to work sensitively with colleagues and clients having diverse personalities, lifestyles, cultures, faiths, and backgroundsAbility to maintain client confidentiality and communicate with professionalism and courtesyAbility to take initiative, multi-task, meet deadlines, and work well under pressureKnowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPointAbility to learn legal case management software (currently FastVisa) and other databases/CRMDemonstrated interest in supporting immigrant and migrant rightsAbility to speak in one or more languages aside from English desired, but not requiredFamiliarity with communities in Hawai‘i and/or immigrant communities is desiredHow to Apply:Email resume and cover letter to
