What You'll Do:Develop and manage a safety program for all new-build construction and operational assets.Work with contractors and contracted stakeholders to detect and report on faults and hazards for electric transmission lines and substations.Manage preventative and corrective action plans for accidents, outages, system damage, and affected surrounding areas.Maintain appropriate safety protocols and perform scheduled inspections.Ensure safety compliance with all regulatory requirements and agencies.Manage potential issue resolution and safeguard the company from reputational risks.Promote a culture of safety excellence and quality training standards.Oversee employee training programs for construction projects and operational asset teams.Safety Compliance and Reporting:Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the specific needs and risks associated with electric transmission operations for employees and its contractors.Conduct routine safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures and provide recommendations for improvement.Ensure that safety concerns, including accidents, incidents, and near misses, are appropriately documented and reported as required.Communicate safety objectives and statistics based on key performance indicators ("KPI") and company standards.Training and Development:Design and develop comprehensive training programs tailored to address a diverse array of subjects pertaining to safety and operational protocols specific to the electric transmission industry.Oversee electric transmission safety regulations and ensure that training programs align with and meet regulatory requirements by OSHA, PESH, NYSDOT, IEEE, NESC, NERC, FERC, and EPA.Maintain internal company safety training records, including attendance, assessments, and certifications, and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.Oversee contractor safety program and training compliance.Manage testing of PPE items, including but not limited to hot sticks, high-voltage rubber gloves, temporary personal protective grounds, and similar equipment.Incident Preparedness and Response:Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation plans and protocols for handling hazardous materials or equipment failures.What You Bring:Minimum 6 years of experience as a safety and training professional, with a minimum of 3 years of experience designing, implementing, or delivering safety and training initiatives and programs.Must have working knowledge and experience with OSHA (29 CFR 1910.269, 1926 and VPP), PESH, NYSDOT, IEEE, NESC, NERC, FERC, EPA, and local regulations.Proven track record of leading serious incident/accident investigations.Strong ability to recognize safety and health risks/hazards in field settings and provide actionable recommendations for mitigation.Expertise in contractor management.Demonstrated proficiency in communicating clearly to team members across all tiers and in diverse settings, including larger audiences.Associate's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Training, or related field of study required.Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk.B.S. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Training, or related field of study is highly desired.Certified Safety Professional ("CSP") and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist ("CIH") is highly desired.Position Type:
