Designer

for our NorCal studio. The Designer, working under the general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.Specific responsibilities will include:Works with the team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/or adaptive projectsWorks with the team to develop design ideas and create both presentation and construction drawingsDrafts technical drawingsFor smaller projects may oversee all design and drawingProvides a review of engineering and landscape drawings to ensure they comply with the design solutionWith Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projectsEnsures integration into the overall designPreliminary concept plans for larger projectsMay develop and finalize a conceptual design for smaller projectsOversees Intermediate Designer to review space plans and tackles more complicated issuesProvides detail for interior and architectural design projectsDevelops and delivers overall design and furniture packages for both interior and exteriorAssists in developing packages for larger projectsObtains cost estimates and produces final cost estimatesManages design budget for assigned projectsMay mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate DesignersQualifications:Graduate of architecture or design school; equivalent experience may be substituted6+ years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interiorsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends, and aestheticsExtensive knowledge of repositioning and adaptive re-use projectsAdvanced presentation skillsAdvanced knowledge of space planningExtensive knowledge of furnishings and finishesExtensive with the concepts of furniture layoutAdvanced sketching and rendering skillsAdvanced architecture detailing skillsExtensive knowledge of CDs and proceduresExtensive knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirementsWorking knowledge of path of travel requirementsWorking knowledge of contract administrationIntermediate MS Office Suite skillsAdvanced Revit skillsAdvanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
