The candidate’s philosophy of early childhood must align with the Reggio-Emilia approach of Spring Hollow Early Learning Center, supporting child-led emergent curriculum, social-emotional learning, artistic expression, and extensive outdoor play, as well as encouraging a community of joy and collaboration.Our small non-profit school requires a director who is passionate, hard working, committed, creative, and thrives in a collaborative environment. The director will work closely alongside the two classroom teachers, an assistant teacher, the Board of Directors, as well as the 40 families.Expectations:
Fosters a loving, nurturing, “Nothing without Joy” environmentTreats children with dignity and respectMaintains a professional attitude and dedication to the school at all timesWorks with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphereParticipates in training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth, maintaining current knowledge of early childhood practiceBalances time daily between administrative and classroom dutiesOperational Responsibilities:
Oversees school year and summer camp programs and enrollmentMaintains all staff and children’s filesMaintains licensing standards as required by the Department of Human ServicesIs responsible for basic accounting, as well as communicating with Treasurer regarding financesAttends regularly scheduled School Board meetings, provides program reports and agendaCoordinates needed environmental upkeep; includes scheduling repairs and routine services, educational equipment, and safety issuesOrders and purchases supplies, in collaboration with the teachersTeacher Support:
Works with all staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphereFacilitates weekly staff meetingsProvides opportunities for teacher trainings, conferences, workshops and work daysCollaborates with the teachers in the assessment of each child’s growth and developmentCollaborates with the teachers in the reflection, structure and achievement of Spring Hollow’s goals in the classroomServes as a classroom teacher at least 30% of the time (includes arrival, dismissal, lunch, third teacher or substitute as needed)Collaboration with Families:
Coordinates the planning of and attends scheduled events listed on the school calendarParticipates in Parent/Teacher Conferences, any scheduled meetings, and regular email communicationParticipates in daily arrival and dismissal procedures; greets parents and children with joyAssists in promoting parents’ understanding of their child’s growth and developmentPromotes the Program:
Schedules and hosts school toursWorks with the Board to plan and implement marketing and fundraising as neededCommunicates with Alumni families to maintain connectionsIs responsible for summer and school year registrationMinimum Qualifications/Requirements
Is professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education or development; meeting the licensing requirements of the Department of Human Services, including a background checkHas at least a bachelor’s degree in the field of early childhood education, child development, or a related fieldHas experience in educational administrationHas a minimum of 3 years experience in the field of early childhoodIs a sensitive, mature individual who relates well to children and adultsHas basic computer skills and can manage accounting responsibilitiesHas completed training courses as required by DHS or will do so within the required time frameSalary & Benefits
This is a 12-month salaried position, with paid time off. Compensation is an annual salary of $35,000-$40,000 dependent upon experience.Application Procedures
