Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a

Principal/Senior Principal Cost Estimating Analyst

to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Business Management organization. This role may be based in either our Redondo Beach, CA or Melbourne, FL offices, and may be able to support a hybrid working environment.

This Principal/Senior Principal Cost Estimating Analyst will support the sector estimating analytics and estimate/proposal development efforts across multiple program areas. This team member will estimate labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on request for proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers. Additionally, will be responsible to analyze specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Will collect cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors; compute cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor; and prepare and maintain historical cost data.

The employee will be responsible to create cost models for cost estimating elements; prepare cost reports and present findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors. Our more senior level analyst may be expected to develop solutions to sophisticated problems, which require the regular use of resourcefulness and innovation and review data available. The candidate will use existing models or have the ability to craft and build estimating models based on the information available and, once complete, be able to communicate efficiently and clearly present technical approaches, findings, and present results to their management.

Essential Functions:

Estimates labor costs of manufacturing and engineering based on request for proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers

Rough Order of Magnitude

(ROM) estimates supporting all programs as required

Analyzes specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts

Calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data

Collects cost data from functional representatives and subcontractors

Computes cost estimates

Prepares and maintains historical cost data

Creates cost models for cost estimating elements

Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators and customer representatives

This search may be filled at either a Level 3 (Principal) or Level 4 (Senior Principal).

Basic Qualifications for a Principal (Level 3) Cost Estimating Analyst:

Bachelor's degree with 6 years of Cost Estimating, Manufacturing, STEM, Engineering and/or production experience, or a Master's degree with 4 years of related experience

Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office tools, specifically performing Least Square Regression, Pivot Table Analysis, and application of Improvement Curves by type and advanced functions

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal (Level 4) Cost Estimating Analyst:

Bachelor's degree with 10 years of Cost Estimating, Manufacturing, STEM, Engineering and/or production experience, or a Master's degree with 8 years of related experience

Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office tools, specifically performing Least Square Regression, Pivot Table Analysis, and application of Improvement Curves by type and advanced functions

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Sole source and competitive proposal experience

Rough Order of Magnitude

(ROM) estimate experience

Knowledge or familiarity of aerospace production operation functions, tasks, and processes

Operations touch labor improvement curve theory and modeling

Strong presentation skills

Experience in communicating technical and theoretical analysis

Experience in supporting negotiations

Experience with Excel

In-depth understanding of Manufacturing and Support Labor and how they interact

Experience with Cost Estimating Tools such as TruePlanning or SEER

Salary Range:

$76,600 - $133,100

Salary Range 2:

$95,000 - $164,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
