About the Position:
This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer as part of the Information Technology Services Team (ITS). This leader will work closely with the Information Technology Services Team, the Compliance team, the School Quality team, the Chief Operating Officer, campus leadership, the Family Engagement team, the Language Access team, and other stakeholders to help ensure school information systems effectively support the instructional and operational programs at Capital City. The School Information Systems Manager will manage the School Information Systems Associate. This position provides an outstanding opportunity for a leader committed to education reform, to help an innovative and mission-driven organization realize ambitious goals following a recent period of change.
This is a 12-month position which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The SIS Manager has responsibilities in the following key areas:
Systems Development and Management
Manage and improve collection, access, analysis, and use of our school information system by all of our constituents.
Work with the CTO to lead our 2-year initiative to re-vision our use of school information systems, gathering feedback from stakeholders, to help identify what is working, and what needs to be improved with our systems.
Manage the School Information Systems to ensure accuracy and quality of school data. This includes managing:
Rediker, our primary School Information System
Transcript creation and records requests
Report creation
Rosters/Scheduling
Attendance
Student/Family demographics
Gradebook
Parent Portals
Google Cloud, as our Identity Access Management tool, in conjunction with the IT Team
Jumprope, our MS and HS gradebook
Payment processing
High Five, our discipline system
Payschools, our payment processing system particularly for Food Services
Naviance and Parchment for transcripts and college guidance
Clever, our SSO and rostering system
Support the Academic Technology Coordinators in training staff on use of our various systems. This includes communicating with school-level instructional teams regarding SIS operations, and managing communication between the Central Office and Instructional Teams for Summer programs.
Serve as the second point of contact for outside vendors that provide SIS services.
Work closely with Compliance and Family Engagement Team to support our admission and enrollment processes.
Monitor and help prioritize information regarding school-wide priorities; develop project plans in Asana that incorporate multiple stakeholders; identify resources and monitor project implementation and student information practices school-wide.
Recommend, implement, and support SIS enhancements related to vendors and internal processes.
Data Management
Lead our initiative to automate data transfer between our various systems, collaboratively developing processes to ensure the secure and effective integration of school data. The Manager of School Information Systems will work closely with the School Quality, Compliance, and Central Office teams to develop these processes.
Serve as the primary data management liaison and technical support for key departments throughout the school.
Support the collection of accurate information, and the updating all SIS systems, including data migrations and manual data entry as needed (ex: student schedules, demographic information, attendance reports, behavior reports, etc.) for each system.
Support Central Office and Instructional staff in accessing SIS data.
As part of the SIS Department, ensure SIS data is accurate and up-to-date; perform regularly scheduled data checks and identify data errors; correct data errors or manage a process for data corrections with direct reports.
Training and Technical Support
Support and plan with ITS Department, Principals, and Instructional Coaches to implement professional development on SIS procedures and tools for administrative and instructional staff, including training for teachers related to standards-based grading procedures, attendance keeping, behavior documentation, etc.
Provide follow-up training and development as needed, including scheduled open office hours for instructional leaders.
Attend SIS-related trainings and workshops; stay current with field knowledge and continue to increase knowledge and expertise.
Respond in a timely way to both academic and non-academic data requests, including reports, presentations and memos, from internal and external constituents requiring documentation or support in Spanish.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience or the appropriate combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with managing a Student Information System or a similar constituent system.
Experience with Rediker SIS a plus.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to be detail oriented while also maintaining hold of the big picture.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and databases.
Exceptional project management and organizational skills required.
In addition to the above requirements, staff members must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.
