Armed Special Police Officers (SPO) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

to provide security service and emergency response and aid to ill and/or injured staff, patrons, and visitors at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.The candidate must have an active Unarmed SO license issued by the District of Colombia (DC) Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Security Officers Management Branch (SOMB). SPO (EMT) Security Officer (EMT) shall carry and maintain an NREMT EMT Certification.Job Skills / RequirementsUnarmed SPOs shall perform all tasks in accordance with the duties outlined within the Post Orders, which are prepared by the Office of Safety and Security for all shifts on each post. Some of the duties include but are not limited to:Access Control PackageScreening (X-Ray Machine)Personnel screening (Hand Wands / Magnetometers)Traffic Control Visitor Processing Vehicle inspectionCommunications and dispatching Patrol OperationsEmergency and event responseCorrectly attired in uniform, equipment, and groomingEmergency care may include, but is not limited to:Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including the use of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs)Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care of simple and multiple system traumaBandaging woundsTreatment of shockAdditional care is provided based upon the assessment of a patient and obtaining historical information.QualificationsPossess a high school diploma or equivalency; however, collegiate academic course work or an AA/AS degree is preferableMinimum of 1 year of experience in law enforcement, security or a combination of bothMinimum of 1 year experience as a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certified EMTCurrent SPO (Unarmed) license issued by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Security Officers Management Branch (SOMB)Carry and maintain a NREMT EMT Certification and an American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider CPR Certification (or equivalent)Carry a current “Advanced First Aid” card issued by the American Red Cross or equivalentPass suitability determinationExcellent verbal communication and interpersonal skillsTraining RequirementsAll SPOs must complete the training requirements and pass the required written examination.All SPOs must take the following training:Security Post OrdersEmergency Evacuation ProceduresCode BravoWatch Tour Procedures CertificationRequirements (All)Unarmed SPO License issued by the District of Columbia and SOMBAdvanced First Aid Card issued by the American Red Cross or equivalentNREMT EMT Certification and an American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider CPR Certification (or equivalent)Education RequirementsHigh School DiplomaGEDAssociate degreeCertification Requirements (Any)DC Armed SPOO.C. aerosol sprayHandcuffing Tactics and InstructionCPR/First AidAdditional Information / BenefitsMedical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Vision InsuranceBenefits: Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Paid Vacation, Paid HolidaysScreening Requirements:
