Overview:

A Charge Nurse is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift and is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of patient care activities of the department/area.Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for the delivery of quality care in the OR and other areas of Surgical Services while meeting standards as set forth by the State, the Joint Commission, and facility policies and procedures. Maintains knowledge and skills required to perform as a professional Registered Nurse as well as those specific to Surgical Services and the OR. Promotes teamwork with all surgical team members and other departments.Manages supplies and equipment effectively.The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.Qualifications:Must have ASN degree or Nursing DiplomaTwo years experience as an RN in the Operating Room requiredCurrent RN licensureBLS through American Heart AssociationDemonstrated proficiency in critical care nursing, knowledge and skills.Must be able to return to the hospital/facility within 30 minutes of a Callback.
