**PART-TIME MINI BUS DRIVER - Northampton Community Transport**Mini Bus Driver Northampton Door to Door ServiceDownload the application formTo drive a specially adapted mini-bus to convey elderly and disabled people to different locations within the Borough of Northampton.**Background**VIN provides support for the voluntary and community sector in Northamptonshire. Our role is to help the voluntary sector to support local communities. VIN provides a range of support services for frontline voluntary and community groups to enable them to address management and development issues and to function more effectively within the changing operating environment. We also support volunteering countywide through brokerage for volunteering positions, strategic development of volunteering in the county and training and consultancy. We aim to provide easy to access and seamless services to voluntary organisations and community groups providing generic packages of support and responding to ad hoc information and support requests. We also work to develop knowledge and skills in the voluntary and community sector. In addition we support individuals through our volunteer brokerage service and direct services.Working in partnership with other infrastructure and voluntary sector organisations as well as statutory and educational bodies within the county, VIN aims to develop a thriving independent voluntary and community sector that is a valued partner in the development of Northamptonshire and its communities.Northampton Community TransportVIN runs Northampton Community Transport which is made up of the Northampton Volunteer Car Scheme and Northampton Door to Door Service. The Door to Door service is for elderly and disabled people who cannot manage on conventional buses. It consists of 5 minibuses which pick passengers up from their door and take them to any destination in the Borough of Northampton, and also includes a shopping bus.The Volunteer Car Scheme provides transport for elderly and disabled persons living in the Borough of Northampton & Grange Park to medically related and wellbeing appointments. All the Car Scheme drivers are volunteers and use their own vehicle to transport passengers. The scheme has been operating for over 30 years and is funded by a variety of grants and donations.Purpose of the PostTo drive a specially adapted mini-bus to convey elderly and disabled people to different locations within the Borough of Northampton.It will be your responsibility to: Safely transport passenger from their home to their destinations whilst adhering to the specified schedule for the day. Offer the necessary support and assistance to passengers and help them with their bags and walking aids if required. Ensure all passengers are safelysecured in their seats before travel. Liaise with office staff as necessary. Conduct maintenance/safety checks and cleaning of the bus.**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**To drive a specially adapted mini-bus in accordance with the NDDS Instructions for Mini-Bus Drivers.To undergo the Mini-Bus Driver Assessment Scheme (MiDAS) training and assessment.To collect customer journey payments.To liaise with the dispatcher over passenger schedules.To report any deviations from the schedule i.e. passengers who are not at their collection points, diversions en route, breakdowns etc.To complete the relevant journey documentation.To carry out daily and weekly maintenance and safety checks, as described in the appropriate checklists and complete those checklists.To maintain the vehicle in a clean condition, both internally and externally.To undertake simple maintenance. i.e. changing bulbs etc.To carry out any other relevant duties as required by Community Transport ManagerOther duties and responsibilitiesHelp to ensure that VIN embraces diversity, challenges discrimination, and reflects the communities of Northants and work in line with VINs Equal Opportunities Policy.Attend and contribute to driver and team meetings with occasional out of hours work.Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies and practices and to attend training courses as necessary.Participate in own support and supervision, appraisal and learning and development. To work occasionally out of hours as necessary.The post holder will also be expected to undertake any other tasks at the discretion of the Chief Executive and the Board of Trustees.Responsible to: Community Transport ManagerPlease note: You will be required to complete a Disclosing and Barring Check (DBS) to get a copy of any criminal record for this role & Midas TrainingHours of Employment: Monday: 8am 5pmTuesday: 8am 5pmWednesday: 8am 5pmStart time can be negotiable.You will have a 30 minute unpaid break each day.Flexibility is essential for this role.You may be asked to cover other driver holiday if you are available.Place of Employment: Spencer Contact, Gladstone Close, NN5 7AY. This is where the bus and daily schedules are collected and returned to.(NB: Office staff, consisting of schedulers and manager, are based at Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire, 15 St. Giles Street, Northampton)Salary: 8.91 per hourHolidays: 20 working days per annum pro rata plus Bank Holidays and concessionary days pro rata.
