Convey a positive image of the clinic. He/she communicates with providers/nurse/manager/co-workers as appropriate, about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic evaluation and changes in patient condition or symptomatology. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Accurately room patients; take an adequate patient history; obtain accurate vital signs, collecting urine and blood specimen, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples, and accurately enter all information into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in a timely manner.Accurately and timely assists physician or provider during medical exam and procedure and prepare test and prescription requisitions according to physician orders as requested.Proficient in clerical responsibilities including: sending/receiving/retaining patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately; obtain pre-authorization and healthy connection referrals.Accurately check schedules and organize patient flow; perform screenings per provider guidelines; relaying instructions to patients; answering calls and providing pertinent information and documenting conversations.Performs facility responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up equipment according to department protocol; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment, cleaning/sterilizing equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control, rooms stocked with medical supplies and keep inventory according to departments acceptable par level.Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity and serves as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.Consults other departments as appropriate for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.Maintains Point of Care documents and performs Quality Control management. Orients and mentors new staff members. If you are looking for a career where you can make a difference in your community, we invite you to apply.QualificationsEducation/Certification: Certification as a Medical Assistant or comparable experience in a medical office working as a Medical Assistant.Experience: CMA course, Phlebotomy course and experience, and IV certification preferred.Equipment/Technology: Basic computer and typing skills. Manual blood pressure experience preferred.Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual is a plus. Must understand medical terminology.Mathematical Skills: Basic skills required.Mental Capabilities: Able to follow basic commands and learn how to operate an electronic medical record in a proper and accurate manner. Interpersonal: Able to interact with staff and patients in a polite, political, and efficient manner.
