Unit Description:

The Clinical Decision Unit is designed to hold patients whose medical conditions require specific clinically defined hospital-based services that include short term treatments, assessments and reassessments through periodic monitoring by staff who evaluate whether the patient can be discharged from the hospital or require inpatient status/admission. Patient expected Length of stay is 8-48 hours, therefore the admission/transfer/discharge activity, (ADT), of this unit is expected to be high and therefore fast paced. This clinical area features a pace similar to the Emergency Room with diagnostic work ups and care needs in a telemetry setting.

Responsibilities:

The nurse will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, educate and document the nursing care of patients set forth by organizational policies and in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgement, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, as well as, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the patient to facilitate a safe discharge.

Minimum RequirementsCurrent Massachusetts RN LicenseEvidence of Continued Education12 months of recent Acute Care RN experience preferredCurrent Telemetry experience preferredCurrent AHA BLS certificationUtilizes appropriate time management skills. Communicates effectivelyRecommended Requirements
