Business Analyst I

for the

IT Department.

SummaryThe Business Analyst I provides consultation and assistance to users of health information systems to include: analyzing user requirements, planning and designing user system interfaces, testing applications, training users, writing user documentation and resolving user problems.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a computer-related, business or health-related field, or equivalent technical training required.

Requires two years of computer-related or technical experience sufficient to gain exposure to user, technical and operational needs for on-line healthcare computer systems.

An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be acceptable.

Requires skills in the following areas:

Windows

Client/Server Operating System

Analyzing trends

User tech support/training

Word processing software

Database management software

Spreadsheet software

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Function as interface between health information systems, and coordinate application modifications that apply to multiple systems.

Analyze user computing needs and define functional specifications for software design and modifications.

This activity includes:

Interviewing users

Observing current user environment

Evaluating existing systems and applications

Determining data input and output specifications an defining and documenting functional requirements for software design.

Write test plans and coordinate user and internal testing; resolve and re-test identified errors and problems.

Develop the implementation and installation plans for upgrading systems and or replacement of servers.

Plan and teach user training sessions; make oral and written presentations to project teams and management.

Write and update user documentation.

Act as an integral member of the HCHS IT Disaster Recovery Team, following documented HCHS disaster recovery plans and procedures.

Promote and adhere to departmental and organizational information security policies, standards, and procedures.

Participates in rotation of server patching and Application Services On-Call.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
