Duties & Responsibilities
Under supervision, delegates responsibility to nursing personnel for direct and indirect care of adult patients during each tour based on staff qualifications. Assists in determining necessary resources to provide for patients are who high and low risk. By use of the nursing process, plans care based on the patients' response to medical/surgical processes. Works within the guide lines of regulatory agency standards and Hospital Guidelines.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPromotes a positive and pleasant attitude conducive to the workplace which enhances the Mission, Vision and Value Statement of the Network.Ensures that patients receive appropriate care from nursing staff during hospitalization.Uses the nursing process to ensure that staff appropriately monitors medical status.Coordinates all patient care activities. Provider assignment for all levels of nursing staff.Reports to Nursing supervisor and collaborates with Deputy Director of Nursing when indicated.Delivers direct care when required.Orients new personnel to the unit and equipment in collaboration with the supervisor and Nursing Educator.Prepares staffing time schedules according to guidelines.Prepares eight (8) hour clinical report.Ensures staff compliance with standard of care. Refers any unusual findings to the physician.Ensures staff/personnel/family compliance with policy/procedure/protocol related to the wearing of proper attire in isolation rooms, e.g., caps, masks, shoe covers and sterile gowns and gloves.Ensures that all admission vital signs, fetal heart rate, weight and height are recorded in the patient's record.Ensures that care is delved in a culturally sensitive manner acceptable to the patient and in accordance with hospital guidelines.Develops indicator measurements, monitors and submit monthly and quarterly report to QI Department.Supports the family centered concept by involvement in the care and treatment, when applicable.Maintains record of staff and absenteeism.Follows the disciplinary process based on the hospital's policy.Is knowledgeable of policy, procedures, protocol and State RegulationsMinimum Qualifications
A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; andHolds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); andOne (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
