Job Summary
The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District is seeking interested individuals for an 80 hour School Bus Driver Trainee Program designed to prepare and train individuals for full licensure and certification as a qualified candidate to be a School Bus Driver in the State of California. If selected for the program, Bus Driver Trainees would be paid minimum wage for the time spent in training (up to 80 hours).
Upon successful completion of all requirements, a twelve month commitment is required as a school bus driver for either the Galt Joint Union Elementary or Galt Joint Union High School District if an open permanent position exists in either district.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience: Bus Driver experience NOT required.
License & Certificates:For entry into the training program:-Valid Class A, B or C California Motor Vehicle Operator's License - held for at least one year-Current DMV Driving Record printout (available online from the California DMV)
Other-Initial Department Of Transportation (DOT) drug test.During the training program, trainees must obtain the following for consideration as a substitute School Bus Driver:-Valid Class A or B Motor Vehicle Operator's license with passenger transportation, "S", and air brake endorsements-California Special Driver Certificate (DL-45) valid for school bus driving-Current DMV Medical Card (DL-45)

PROGRAM SELECTION PROCEDURESThis program is open to all interested applicants, but priority consideration will be given to any regular or substitute employees of Galt Joint Union Elementary School District. All applicants will need to fill out an application answering all questions and including all required attachments. Final selection interviews will be conducted by the Transportation Department.

Anticipated Dates of Classroom Training:ASAP
Behind the Wheel Training Program:Additional dates and times to be scheduled after applicant selections have been made and in conjunction with classroom training.
