This is an on-site position.
EMS is seeking a talented
Microsoft based VB6 Developer
with POS experience. As a developer, you'll be responsible for backend and frontend design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of existing and new features. You will also need to gather requirements, code, test, document and implement in a fast paced environment. You must be able to work closely with team members, developers, and management utilizing written and verbal communication skills as well as be able to function independently with a commitment to learning about EMS business in the finance and credit card industry.
Essential Functions:Apply coding and analytical skills for efficient and accurate functionalityAssist in the creation of general system design and technical specifications for the POS application and operating system, taking into consideration any limitations and network availabilityTest, debug, support and maintain existing application and support customer reported issues.Ability to integrate peripherals including printers, card terminals, measuring devices, etc. to the application via the OSFluent understanding of the IP protocol and various Internet servicesAccountable for the performance, accuracy, and functionality of the POS applicationCommunicate effectively with managers to provide progress updates, roadblocks, and offer suggestions & solutionsAnalyze existing code to determine where problems may occur and develop possible solutionsPreparation of documentation for any proposed or existing application functionalityRequired:
Degree in Computer Science or related fieldProficiency in creation and maintenance of VB6 code and SourceSafe source control system5+ years of professional experience in VB6 based programmingSelf-motivated with a strong work ethic, looking for problems to solve with minimal supervisionExperience with Microsoft Visual Studio (MVS) and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and the VB IDEPreferred:
Experience with .Net technologies and Team Foundation ServicesExperience in the Financial industry and/or credit card processingExperience in the finance industry, in particular, credit and debit card processingExtensive employee benefit package including:
